| Am I being unreasonable? Every weekend my father expects me to spend the entire weekend helping him with a project around his house. Whether it's plumbing, building a shed, running water lines, you name. My father always invests in his property so he can gain more money. He is an extremely frugal man and is obsessed with money. He says he invests in no one but himself. Not even his own children. He doesn't pay me a penny for the work I do. Now I have absolutely no problem helping him out uncompensated every once in a while, but this isn't every once in while. This is every single weekend since I was a kid (I'm 17 now). He also occasionally does this during the week. I don't want to be a disrespectful or bratty child, but I think the way he treats me is rather unreasonable. He expects me to be at his disposal all day on Sat/Sun and then he won't give me a dime for ANYTHING. I asked him for $20 for buy a new pair of shoes as mine ripped and he wouldn't even give me that. He told me I should pay for it since I had a job. My father refuses to hire anyone to do the work I do because he doesn't want to spend the money when he can just have me do it for free. Am I the being unreasonable? What should I do? |
